RISKY BUSINESS is a resource report for youth workers working with young African people using basketball and hiphop.
Thomas Ater Thomas Ater was the key worker on the Risky Business Project, and worked as a casual worker at GMCC. He was a committed and passionate youth worker, who focused on the best interests of the young people. He spent many hours playing basketball and working with the young people at the Granville Youth and Community Recreation Centre. Thomas passed away in South Sudan in August 2011, and will be sorely missed.
The Risky Business project, which Thomas was a key part of, has developed into a key project model for GMCC’s youth programs, and in 2011 the work was acknowledged through a ZEST Award.
