Community Development

The Auburn/Granville Community Development Worker works to reduce social, cultural and geographic isolation for the residents of Granville and Auburn. The project achieves this through community development activities including group work, information and referral, advocacy and networking. The aim is to build the skills, experience and confidence of residents, and for local communities to be self-sufficient and self-sustaining.

The Community Development Worker’s role is to:

  • promote and develop a sense of social cohesion between residents
  • identify needs of local residents and work with them to address these issues
  • involve the residents in relevant development and other decision making processes and
  • to work with residents to build social capital within these areas.

This project is funded by the Department of Community Services.
